Meet the Team

Nicole Palmieri, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Doctor of Nursing Practice | Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner | Founder of NJNPBH Inc.

With 20 years of experience in the medical field, including 10 years as a registered nurse and 5 years as a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I am deeply committed to providing inclusive, empathetic, patient-centered care. I earned my Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Villanova University in 2022, further enhancing my ability to offer comprehensive, evidence-based care.

Following several years of clinical internship and mentorship I began practicing independently as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in 2020 and founded NJNPBH Inc. to focus on mental health and wellness in a holistic way. My background as a staff nurse treating substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders has given me a unique perspective on the complex intersection between addiction, mental health, and overall well-being.

I approach patient care with a focus on mind, body, and spirit, working collaboratively with each client to create a personalized treatment plan that addresses their individual needs. Through thorough psychiatric evaluations, customized treatment strategies, and careful medication management, I strive to help clients achieve optimal health and function.

I believe that successful treatment is a partnership—one that is built on trust, mutual respect, and open communication. By working together, I aim to empower my clients to feel their best and achieve lasting wellness.

Thank you for trusting me with your care. I am honored to support you on your journey to health and healing.

Kristen Gleason, Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, LCSW

Hello! My name is Kristen Gleason, and I am a licensed clinical social worker with a passion for supporting individuals on their journey to healing and self-discovery. As a devoted cat mom to two furry companions, a proud mother of two beautiful humans, and a loving wife, I understand the complexities of life’s relationships and the challenges they can bring. With over ten years of experience on an inpatient psychiatric unit, I have had the privilege and honor of holding space for individuals during their most challenging times. This role has deepened my understanding of the human experience and the importance of empathy, compassion, and connection. Transitioning to private practice has allowed me to continue supporting individuals as they navigate their lives beyond crisis. I pride myself on being warm, non-judgmental, and deeply empathic. I truly believe that being a social worker is not just a career; it is a calling. It is my honor to listen, guide, and hold space for you as you explore your thoughts and feelings. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work degree from Stockton College (now a university) in May 2013, complete with a Child Welfare Certification, and went on to receive my Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University in May 2014, with a concentration in gerontology. My diverse experiences working in courthouses, jails, homes, schools, and offices have shaped my approach and led me to the fulfilling path of private practice. I understand that the bond between therapist and client is sacred and not to be taken lightly. Building therapeutic rapport is imperative to the healing process, and I would be honored to be a part of your journey towards growth and wellness.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, goal-oriented form of talk therapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. By focusing on the connections between thoughts, emotions, and actions, CBT empowers people to develop healthier coping strategies for managing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges. It is widely recognized for its effectiveness in achieving lasting, positive change.

  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a client-centered counseling approach that helps individuals find the motivation to make positive changes in their lives. By fostering a supportive and non-judgmental environment, MI empowers clients to explore their own reasons for change, resolve ambivalence, and strengthen commitment to their goals. Often used in addiction, health behavior change, and mental health treatment, MI is highly effective in promoting self-motivation and long-term success.

  • Solution-Based Psychotherapy, also known as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), is a goal-oriented approach that helps individuals identify and build on their strengths to create positive change. Rather than focusing on problems, this therapy emphasizes solutions, encouraging clients to envision their desired future and explore practical steps to achieve it. SFBT is particularly effective for clients seeking quick, focused results and is widely used for a range of challenges, from stress and relationship issues to career and personal growth.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a specialized form of cognitive-behavioral therapy designed to help individuals manage intense emotions and build healthier relationships. DBT combines mindfulness practices with skills in distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness, providing clients with practical tools to navigate challenging situations. Originally developed for borderline personality disorder, DBT is effective in treating various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and eating disorders.
